| Home | Carcasses In early 1999, the group responded to requests by the processing sector and began to supply pigs in carcass form, as well as on a live basis. Pigs are slaughtered for the group in a small killing plant in Northern Ireland. This plant is a family run business with a full EU approved licence. It is situated close to many group members pig units, which ensures that transit times are kept to less than one hour. Also good co-ordination between the plant and producers ensures time in the lairage is minimised. Both factors help to ensure good meat quality. All pigs are individually identified to allow complete traceability. Following storage in chills, carcasses are loaded onto containers for delivery under seal anywhere in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Strict quality control procedures cover storage, loading and transportation operations. These quality control procedures can easily be adjusted to meet processor or retailer requirements.
