During their years of trading, Progressive Lean Pigs Ltd has built up good working relationships with the processors they have supplied. These have always been based on mutual respect and understanding. This improved communication has enabled the processor to explain to group members the exact specification of carcasses required. Members have responded by providing slaughter animals within the grade and weight band asked for. Indeed in response to the request of one processing outlet, members changed the breeding programmes on their units to provide a slaughter generation with an increased percentage lean meat. This ensured that the processor got the carcasses required and that members received the best financial returns possible.
