Over its trading period Progressive Lean Pigs Ltd. has evolved with an increase in membership and a corresponding increase in pigs traded. Full membership is only granted to producers who are invited to join, when they have convinced the group that the quality of the slaughter pigs they produce and the systems of production used meet the group's stipulations. This has ensured that the group has retained its deserved reputation for marketing only top quality pigs.

All group members own and run "birth to slaughter" pig units, which are mainly small, family businesses. Only pigs born on these units are traded and members market all the slaughter pigs they produce through the group. These conditions ensure good stockmanship, complete traceability of all pigs, consistent numbers traded each week and superior quality product.
